I’m a busy surgeon and I’m standing most of the day operating and seeing patients.
Struggling to find motivation to work out on my own, I’d downloaded apps but it felt like hitting the same muscles all the time. I still wasn’t sure which exercises to do each day and didn’t see any change, despite sweating and working out a lot!
I tried working with a trainer before Katie. He pushed me to lift heavy weights often, and I was uncomfortable with his style. I’m not adverse to lifting weights and actually, I really enjoy it. But exercises we did somehow felt “wrong” and I mentally associated it with bodybuilding.
Katie’s routines are varied and interesting so every workout feels fresh. You learn new things, find new areas to work on. I started to like exercises I used to avoid and things felt balanced in my body for the first time.
Early on, we focused on how to really do exercises properly, things I thought I knew like squats, lunges, shoulder presses, planks(I had not worked out regularly for two years prior to this), then we worked on increasing my strength and flexibility.
I also got to know what I needed to do on days when I wasn’t with her, and how to start to exercising as part of my routine, without it taking over.
In the two years before training with Katie, the most I could do on an exercise bike was about 10-15 minutes before becoming exhausted.
About five weeks into our sessions, I can tell I’m stronger and fitter overall— and I’m able to do a 30- minute total body workout without stopping or needing to slow down.
I can do more outdoor activities, like hiking, without stopping as often. I don’t notice things I always used to, like climbing stairs! Also, I don’t get the neck cramps and back pain from doing surgeries all week any more.
And because we’re always working toward developing the right amount of muscle for me, I’ve found that even when I go on vacation or treat myself, my body bounces back without having to restrict. I’m seeing my body shape change. I didn’t expect that. I thought it happened in certain places, but when you work like this it happens all over.

I really had no idea what I was doing. I felt like I’d tried so many different diets and workouts that ultimately failed.
The idea of a trainer was really intimidating. I pictured someone who would yell at me and scold me, all in the name of fitness.
I knew that if I worked with a trainer, I’d need to work with someone who would be a true partner on the journey with me, helping me over any physical or mental hurdles that got in my way.
Katie has created such a safe space for me to make mistakes, ask questions, and feel stronger—both physically and mentally. She has helped instill a confidence in me that I’ve never been able to gain from any of the other diets or crazy programs.
I’ve been working with Katie for six months and have lost over 40 pounds and three dress sizes. I have more to go, but I am so happy with my results. I am learning to have a new relationship with food. I am rediscovering my body’s love for movement. My knees and feet which once ached with movement are now strong and pain- free.
Beyond just numbers on a scale, Katie has helped me love my body again. She took a woman who was scared to get started and angry with her body, and gave her a safe space to learn and begin to trust herself–to know I already had what I needed to regain power over my health. I was enough.

My ongoing neck and back issues weren’t going away— and as a singer and performer, it was also affecting my career.
I lost my voice for a while.
My neuromuscular therapist recommended Katie as she has many years of experience with injuries and fixing movement patterns. She knew exactly what my body needed to heal. Her initial plan included a mix of getting stronger, more flexible and fixing daily habits I didn’t know I had, like the way I sit, stand, and move that were contributing to my pain issues.
I’d also hit my late 20s and had an awakening— I wanted to learn about my body and how to actually work out efficiently. Fad diets and intensive group classes weren’t working for me. I didn’t feel right. I didn’t look how I wanted either. I needed someone who could look specifically at my body, food choices and help me develop a balanced lifestyle approach to exercise.
Katie goes above and beyond the typical trainer. For any question I ask, she’s always excited to answer, available when I need support.
She has transformed my relationship with working out to be a joyful part of my life instead of a stressful “check the box” thing I have to do.
I’m much more in tune with myself and what I need to thrive. Katie has taught me to take care of my body, listen to it, whereas before I’d ignore when things hurt and push through pain—or when tired or sick, I’d keep going instead of resting. Why was I being mean to myself?
With her training and knowledge, my back and neck issues are now completely gone. Now workouts are just a part of my life that feels right. It’s easy to see how you just keep it going from there.
